Officer Ryals said that he enjoyed the University of Central Arkansas so much because of the diversity of the campus. He likes being able to walk around campus talking to new students and learning about different cultures.
When he was asked why he chose to work on a college campus, he said it was because he wanted to be able to help change the bad habits before they get out into the real world. He wants to be able to get ahead of the bad habits so they aren't passed on to future generations. Ryals said that a college campus was good for this because they don't have to arrest people. If they get called to a dorm for underage and on campus drinking, they just pour out the alcohol and give the students a citation. Officer Ryals said that matters to him because it doesn't damage the future of the student and they have a second chance to make better choices. He got into law enforcement because his grandfather was an officer and his dad was a sheriff. He grew up learning out to be a positive influence on the community and it was something that stuck with him through his life. He didn't start his career path pursing law enforcement but it was something that was always a passion in the back of his mind. Officer Ryals said he eventually gave in to what he has always wanted to do and he plans to be at UCA for a while.

Currently, as a college student, I live with three other people. I am not making a good enough income to live by myself. One of my roommates wants to move in with his girlfriend and brother, which means that myself and the two other people need to find a smaller place.
We have toured about 4 or 5 houses and none of them have been up to our standard. We have a limit of $1,050 to be split between three people. All the homes we have toured, have had issues with them. There were stains all over the carpet, none of the doors opened properly and one looked like someone had caught the kitchen on fire and they didn't want to fix it. We have also ran into the roadblock of landlords who don't rent to college students. We found a house that we like but he didn't rent to college students and then we found another one but since we were college students she would need each of us to have a parental signature before we even applied for the house. We have also looked into apartments but when we talk to friends or other people that live there, they don't always have nice things to say about it. Conway is a town of colleges but the renters and apartments aren't always college student friendly. The app TikTok has stirred up a lot of controversy. Many people think it's full of
preteens sharing videos that will make you cringe however, what's actually happening on TikTok is changing parts of the music industry. Lil Nas X's song "Old Town Road" first became popular because it went viral on the app, similar to songs by Lizzo and many other artists. It is easier to become viral on this app than it is on any other and users are taking advantage of that but so are the artists. An artist that I personally discovered through TikTok, Ashnikko, blew up because of TikTok. She continues to make music but not in the way that many artists are starting to. There is a trend going around of musical artists on TikTok trying to make a song that will go viral. They are no longer focusing on writing about themselves or about things that mean a lot to them but they are starting to write songs that are more catchy or have funny lyrics. They want to get a reaction out of people so they share the music on the app. One examples is a creator, @iantcrumley, who is posting daily videos of himself dancing to his song until it goes viral. He is trying to break into the algorithm by actively trying to make his song go viral. I'm excited to see how this viral song trend will play out and if it will create loyal fans like traditional artists have. For as long as I remember, I have never been able to stick to a hobby. I have bounced from cooking to knitting and gone from painting to trying to make my own clothes. The one thing I have been most consistent with has been my love for photography.
I have been able to stick with photography since the sixth grade and been able to grow not only my skills but also my passion for it. I was able to become editor of my high school yearbook and move on to become a photographer for UCA's yearbook. When I started at UCA, I was a computer science major, however, I still practiced photography on the side. Realizing computer science wasn't for me, because I couldn't imagine myself sitting at a cubicle for the rest of my life, I thought back to what I had always enjoyed doing which was writing and photography. I started to take journalism classes and I haven't looked back since. I can't imagine myself doing anything else for the rest of my life. This is an easy recipe that can be made in college, dorms, an apartment or even on a tour bus.]
1. Get a cooked chicken breast of your choice and cut it into small pieces or shred it. 2. Cut up some avocados, removing the pit, and then mashing them into a guacamole-like paste. 3. Season everything to your liking. You can add other items to it if you wish. I occasionally add onions and tomatoes with some lemon juice. 3. Mix everything together. 4. Get some chips or tortillas and enjoy. |
